Bench Mark Unlimited was created as a sister entity to Bench Mark Program.
Since 2014, Bench Mark Program has worked with young people in Lancaster County who are facing real barriers — court involvement, school challenges, neighborhood violence, family instability, and the daily pressure of trying to grow up without enough support.
Bench Mark Program does what we often call the first 50% of the work: helping a young person stay out of trouble, get back on track in school, move toward graduation, build trust with adults, develop discipline, and become ready for employment.
But readiness is only half the journey.
The second 50% is opportunity — not just a short-term job, but a real path into a stable career, long-term responsibility, leadership, and ownership.
That is why Bench Mark Unlimited exists.
We are starting in waste management because it is practical, necessary, scalable, and built to last. We will begin with junk removal, cleanouts, and hauling, then grow into dumpster services, rear-loader trash pickup, and additional waste management services over time.
This industry gives people a chance to start with their hands, learn the business, grow in responsibility, and build a future. It is low-barrier to enter, but not low-ceiling. There is room to grow — for the worker, for the company, and for the community.
Bench Mark Unlimited is not being built just to give young people jobs. It is being built to create ownership.
Through the support of Tandem, a consulting firm founded by Chip Cargas, Bench Mark Unlimited is being designed as an employee-owned company. Plenty of people say they want to help young people. Some are willing to offer jobs. Very few are willing to build a company where those same young people can one day share in the ownership.
We believe our young people deserve more than encouragement. They deserve more than a paycheck. They deserve a path to a 40-year career, a chance to lead, and the opportunity to own part of what they help build.
